Whistler - the land that Tim Hortons forgot

Most Canadians or people that have visited Canada know that Tim Hortons outlets are everywhere. However there none (at least that I've seen ) in this area - very shocking! Actually there are very few chain food outlets here ie no Mickey D's, Harvey's , Burger Kings etc - apparently there is a Starbucks nearby and there is a Boston Pizza across the road but everything else is local. In Whistler itself there are some big name sports outlets and a GAP store. The workers in stores and restaurants are all very laid back and the pace of life here is calm. Lots of  Aussie and British accents so I'm surprised when I hear someone speak proper (ie Cdn)English - one waitress said she was paid by the gov't to be a token Cdn in the place. Even the bus drivers will wait for passengers - that's something I never see in Ottawa where the bus drivers delight in leaving someone stranded in a snow bank. When it gets dark in Whistler the tress are lit with bulbs and it's very pretty as you can see below:

We had an easy day at our venue as they shut us down for the afternoon to do a security sweep then lock down. Starting Wed. we'll be going through airport like security to get in to the place. Many many police officers today at the venue and they all seemed to be in our meal tent at the same time - even a few officers from Ottawa Police , and of course many RCMP. I've never seen so many cops at one time.

After we do work force check-in at the venue we have a choice to take a shuttle bus to get to our site or take the spectator path , about 1km long. Here is a shot of some of my fellow smurfs on our way to work
...
Last but not least for this post is a shot out the front door of our doping control trailer - pretty nice view!
